CHICAGO (AP) ― The chairman of the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners visited a 114-year-old woman Thursday as she registered to vote.
Relatives cite a family Bible as evidence that today was Virginia Call's 114th birthday. According to her family, Call had voted up until about 20 years ago, when she moved in with her grandson, and did not update her voter registration.
Call's grandson, 82-year-old John H. Taylor, says he hopes his grandmother's story inspires other people to register to vote.
